what do you call that thing?
After.
There's probably lot's of creative descriptions for this tasty treat. I couldn't even tell you what it is called for real.
It's a shell of chocolate with whipped cream in the middle sitting on top of a wafer. Kind of like soft serve ice cream dipped in coating but without the ice cream.
I know the boys like 'em.

happy birthday Jake!
Thursday was my birthday. I turned six years old. Mom and Dad said they can't believe I turned six already. Mormor made pancakes for my birthday and Mommy baked a brownie cake. Then I got to open some presents. Daddy said he would upload video if silly Bill Gates hadn't upgraded our operating system so that it is incompatible with our camcorder. I have no idea what he is talking about. All I know is that it was a great birthday and that this year, because I'm six, I'm going to try more types of food. Mom and Dad are really proud of me.

pumpkin patch harvest: season finale
A couple have names: Spot, Ghost, Pinky and Aardvark, Stripe 1, Stripe 2, Shorty and Melonhead. Okay, Dad made up those las
t six up. Two are going to the boys' schools to share the Americana pumpkin experience. One is going to cousin Jonaton who originally helped plant the seeds. One may go to Dad's teacher for all the new Swedish verbs she has taught him. Of course you know a couple will be carved for the front porch.
Overall, Dad says it was the best 70 cents he has spent since he has been in Sweden. It helped the family focus on something other than their move to a new land. Thanks for reading our pumpkin patch posts!

junibacken 2
We went to Junibacken over the weekend, the playland/museum based on the books by Astrid Lindgren. They happend to have facepainting there and Jake wanted to be Spiderman. He didn't want to wash it off. It was a good thing we took a picture of it so he could show his friends at school.
Remember this one from an earlier post? Sam as Pippi at an earlier visit to Junibacken.

pumpkin patch update
Haven't updated the pumpkin patch chronicles in a while. The six or seven pumpkins are progressing nicely, as far as almost orange pumpkins go. They were orange on the seed package, really. I keep asking the boys thinking my color deficient eyes are playing tricks on me, as usual. Sam & Jake only confirm what I suspect - the pumpkins are green. Mon says they look like watermelons. Perhaps they will change. We did get a packet of 'white' ones, which really means 'striped' ones in Swedish. Not really. A couple are kid soccer ball size and a couple are smaller but we could harvest them today if we
wanted.
